Our planet is dying, people are suffering and dying, unnecessarily. Corporate capitalism’s greed for profit is destroying our planet and concentrating wealth and power at record levels while causing millions to fall into poverty.
Our current social, economic, and political systems have failed to stop the destruction of our planet’s life support system, have failed to stop climate change, have failed to end hunger and poverty and violence. These failures have brought the world to the brink of catastrophe.
The Progressive Utilization Theory or Prout is an economic and social alternative that protects the environment, shares the resources of the earth equitably, and provides a high quality of life to everyone. Prout is based on cooperatives, the economic self-reliance of every region, local economies, sustainable agriculture, and universal spiritual values.
The Prout Research Institute develops practical projects and policies, raises consciousness, and trains people in this holistic model for the welfare and happiness of all.
The founder of Prout, Prabhat Ranjan Sarkar of India (1922-1990), directed in 1988 that a Prout Research Institute should be started in every country. In 2006 Dada Maheshvarananda, who studied Prout under Sarkar, started the successful Prout Research Institute of Venezuela. His fundraising campaign in 2007 raised more than $230,000 to purchase the three-story house in Caracas. More than 50 interns from around the world trained and did research there during the nine years he served as director. Now he is directing this Prout Research Institute for North America.
The Prout Research Institute (PRI) is a nonprofit corporation registered in North Carolina serving North America. It is a tax-exempt 501(c)(3) organization by the United States Internal Revenue Service.
